Design Engineer -handbags

Responsibilities:

• Work with marketing, operations, NPD, sourcing, and the production staff at various facilities to ensure that all projects meet internal and external customer requirements, including performance, schedule, and budget.
• Proficient in the use of Mechanical Design Software (Solid Edge preferred)
• Experience evaluating fabricated steel, extrusions, and injection molded parts
• Experience with sheet metal manufacturing processes
• Experience developing engineering specifications as needed to help ensure component and final product integrity and quality
• Experience maintaining and updating engineering documentation through a structured Engineering Change notice system
• Experience utilizing SAP business software, including bill-of-material creation and interfacing with variant configurator developers for modular bills-of-material management
• Hands-on approach to building and evaluating prototypes
• Leather background preferably working with handbag development

Education and Work Experience Required:

• BSME
• Experience with leather technology
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and detailing, Solid Edge 3D CAD software
• +4 years Design Experience
• Design, develop, and create detail drawings for new products
• Hands-on approach building and evaluating prototypes
• Relational skills for developing positive working relationships with all project stakeholders
• Understanding leather products manufacturing processes desired

Additional Information:

• Travel occasionally required, mostly within North America, but can include travel to Asia or other foreign locales
• Experience with off-shore contract manufacturers is a plus.
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus
